More than 600 Spanish Cheeses to be examined in the GourmetQuesos
One of the largest concentrations of Spanish Cheeses will take place between May 7 and 10 in the 9th GourmetQuesos. It is a championship with the best cheeses of Spain in 2018, which will be held at the 32nd Salon de Gourmets, in Madrid.
The championship, in which the participants can already register, will be divided into 2 phases. The Semifinal, which will be held on April 10 and 11, at the headquarters of the Madrid Association of Catering Companies (AMER) located in the Casa de Campo Fairgrounds, Madrid. And the Final, to which the selected cheeses will pass and which will be held on May 7th within the framework of the Salón de Gourmets, at Madrid Fair, where the same jury will distinguish the best three for each category (36 in total). The award ceremony will take place on Thursday, May 10. The semifinal will consist of a preliminary test in which the jury of experts will evaluate the more than 600 cheeses received through a blind tasting. This jury will choose the seventy-two finalist cheeses, six for each of the twelve categories: young and cured cow cheeses, young and cured goat, soft paste mix (either rusted or washed, with coagulant or vegetable coagulant). lactic coagulation), semi-cured sheep, cured and aged, blue cheeses, smoked or with condiments inside.
A unique and absolute winner will be proclaimed, from among the winners of each category, who will be rewarded with the Grand Prize GourmetQuesos to the Best Cheese of Spain 2018. All finalists will be able to reproduce on their commercial label the logo accrediting their participation in the championship. In parallel, in the exhibition space, visitors can taste some of the best Spanish cheeses, thanks to the careful selection made by the master affineur (maturer) José Luis Martín and his team.
